Temporary Tariffs on Water Supply and Sewage Services Implemented in Kyzylorda Region

In the Kyzylorda region, measures have been taken to reduce tariffs on water supply and sewage services based on an analysis of the execution of tariff estimates by utility companies for 2024.

The inspection was carried out by the Department for Regulation of Natural Monopolies of the Committee for Regulation of Natural Monopolies of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Kyzylorda Region. The analysis revealed that some enterprises received income from tariffs but did not use it as intended. As a result, temporary compensatory tariffs have been established to return funds to consumers and increase the transparency of tariff policies.

Specifically, the adjustment affected the utility company "Kyzylorda Su Zhuyesi", serving the city of Kyzylorda. According to the Department, the unwarranted income from water supply services amounted to 49.3 million tenge. For this enterprise, a temporary tariff is set from May 1, 2026, to April 30, 2027. The tariff for water supply services in networks amounts to 107.73 tenge per cubic meter excluding VAT, which is 2.6% lower than the current level (110.62 tenge).

A significant reduction was also noted for the utility company "Aral Tazalygy", serving the village of Saksaul in the Aral district, where the reduction reached up to 24.9%. Following the analysis, the unwarranted income from sewage services amounted to 3.1 million tenge. As a result, from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, a temporary compensatory tariff is also introduced: the service cost will be 220.17 tenge per cubic meter excluding VAT, compared to 293.42 tenge previously.

Efforts in this direction will continue on a systematic basis by applying measures to enterprises that inefficiently use tariff funds.
