From October 21 to 23, 2026, Almaty's Atakent Exhibition Centre will host the XXIV International Energy Forum Powerexpo Almaty 2026. The forum will bring together representatives of government bodies, energy companies, equipment manufacturers, technology companies, investors, and industry experts.
This year the forum is held jointly with Kazatomexpo, allowing the event to cover the industry's key areas on a single platform:
(-) conventional and nuclear power generation (-) electrical and heating networks (-) power engineering (-) utility infrastructure (-) digital technologies and new energy solutions
The forum's central theme is the development of Kazakhstan's energy infrastructure amid rising demand for electricity, the modernization of existing capacity, the construction of new generation facilities, and the need for networks to develop ahead of demand.
Business Programme
The business programme will open with a plenary session, "Almaty's Energy Sector: 105 Years of Development and New Growth Points." Participants will discuss the projected energy balance of Almaty and the Almaty power hub through 2035, the state of transmission and distribution networks, the development of generation capacity, the emergence of new major consumers, and the alignment of energy infrastructure with the city's development plans.
A separate discussion will focus on new growth points, with representatives from the Ministry of Energy, the Almaty city administration, KEGOC, AZhK, Samruk-Energy, Alatau City, the Innovative Technologies Park SEZ, and major urban infrastructure operators.
Another part of the programme addresses the alignment of timelines for city development, generation, and network expansion plans: which decisions need to be implemented by 2030 so that energy infrastructure does not become a constraint on Almaty's growth by 2035.
The programme also covers the modernization of heat sources, CHP plants and utility infrastructure, shaping Kazakhstan's long-term energy balance, developing modern energy technologies, and powering data centers and AI infrastructure.
Exhibition
The Powerexpo Almaty 2026 exhibition will showcase equipment and technologies for the power and utilities sector: solutions for generation and grid systems, metering devices, turbine equipment, cable products, insulators, and automation, digitalization, and energy management systems.
Admission for visitors is free, with advance registration at powerexpo.kz
