Community-Initiated Projects Enhance Urban Space in Almaty's Nauryzbay District

This year, Almaty's Nauryzbay District is implementing 35 projects under the 'Community-Initiated Budget' program, aiming to create a comfortable and modern urban environment.

The projects include building public spaces and children's playgrounds, installing outdoor lighting and sidewalks, improving pedestrian areas, vertical gardening, greening overhead pedestrian bridges, and setting up automatic irrigation systems.

One of the completed projects is a children's playground on Aitmatov Street. During the construction, old play equipment and fencing were removed, a new foundation was laid, asphalt concrete was paved, and modern small architectural forms with safe rubber flooring were installed. As a result, residents now have a modern, safe space for children's active recreation.

Another focus area is vertical gardening along Abay and Alatau Avenues. Here, 768 vertical gardening elements with automatic irrigation systems have been installed, and ornamental flowering plants such as petunias and pelargoniums have been planted.

Additionally, the greening of overhead pedestrian bridges along Abay Avenue is ongoing. The project includes setting up planters, decorative modular structures, and vertical gardening systems, with approximately 17,500 flowering plants to be planted. To date, work on installing planters and decorative structures along Abay Avenue, at the Abay Avenue – Ashimov Street junction, and along Dauletkerey Street has been completed. Installation of modular vertical gardening systems on overhead pedestrian bridges has also been finalized.

The implementation of the 'Community-Initiated Budget' program's projects contributes to the comprehensive development of the urban environment, improves landscaping, and creates comfortable public spaces for the residents of Nauryzbay District.
