Kazakhstan Completes Major Repairs on 50 CHP Equipment Units

Fifty units of primary equipment at combined heat and power (CHP) plants have undergone major repairs. A press conference dedicated to the preparation of the country's energy infrastructure for the upcoming heating season was held today at the Central Communications Service under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Ernar Khasenov, Deputy Chairman of the State Energy Supervision and Control Committee of the Ministry of Energy, discussed the progress of the repair campaign, readiness of energy facilities, and both electrical and thermal networks, as well as fuel provision for the upcoming heating season.

It was noted that preparation for the heating season is proceeding as planned. The Committee and its regional departments regularly monitor the quality and timing of repair work on energy facilities.

This year, capital repairs are planned for 9 power units, 55 boilers, and 51 turbines at power stations. A budget of 384 billion tenge has been earmarked for the repair campaign, representing a 9% increase over last year’s level.

Currently, repair work is underway on 3 power units, 26 boilers, and 21 turbines. Capital repairs have already been fully completed on 50 primary equipment units, including 4 power units, 28 boilers, and 18 turbines.

Significant work has been accomplished on electrical networks. Full capital repairs of power transmission lines have been completed, with 17.1 thousand km of networks repaired. Additionally, repairs have been completed on 404 out of 444 substations, equating to 91%. Furthermore, 3,209 distribution points and transformer substations have been repaired.

Special attention is paid to the preparation of thermal networks. By 2026, repairs and reconstruction are planned for 377 km. Currently, 89% of the work is complete. The repair campaign is expected to reduce the average wear level of thermal networks to 48%.

Fuel supply issues are also under constant control. Energy sources already have reserves of 4.2 million tons of coal and 131 thousand tons of mazut.

The need for coal in the public utility sector and by the population for the upcoming heating season is set at 7.5 million tons, including 1.6 million tons for the public utility sector and 5.7 million tons for the population. Required volumes will be ensured according to the approved schedule.

To ensure timely coal deliveries, there is continuous monitoring of its movement from the producer to the region. For this purpose, the Republican headquarters continues to operate with the participation of all interested parties.
