50,000 Bottle Caps Transformed into 'Clean Kazakhstan' Monument in Almaty by Children

A unique monument called 'Clean Kazakhstan' has been unveiled in Almaty, crafted from 50,000 recycled plastic bottle caps collected by schoolchildren and kindergarteners in the city as part of the 'Kind Cap' project.

The ECO Network team worked on creating the monument at Eco-Hubs located at 44 Markova Street and Satbayev University. For two months, hundreds of volunteers sorted and selected the collected caps, after which the plastic was recycled and used in the monument's construction.

The 'Kind Cap' project has been active in Almaty since 2024. During this period, city residents have gathered more than a million plastic caps. Previously, the recycled material was used to create a two-meter-tall Christmas tree on Panfilova Street and benches on the Arbat. In 2026, an alley with 11 benches made from recycled plastic appeared in the city.

In September, the project will expand further. The Almaty Akimat, together with ECO Network and supported by Eco Almaty, is launching a pilot eco-project that will involve kindergartens, schools, and colleges in the Bostandyk District. Through the econetwork.me platform, participants can document their participation in ecological actions, waste separation, and volunteer initiatives.

The project aims to demonstrate the practical potential of waste reuse and engage children and their families in developing eco-friendly habits.
