Mayor of Astana Discusses Second Phase of Tarlan Astana Construction

The Mayor of Astana, Zhenis Kassymbek, shared information about the second phase of construction for the Tarlan Astana light rail transit system on his Instagram page.

"Since the launch of the Tarlan Astana light rail system, nearly 11.5 million trips have been made. This mode of transport is in demand among residents and is becoming part of everyday life.

At the same time, we continue to implement the second phase of the project, aimed at further developing the capital's transport infrastructure.

Construction is progressing in several directions:

  • Towards the city of Kosshy. Construction and installation work on the supports, viaducts, and stations is ongoing. Currently, 294 supports (97%) have been installed, and 385 viaduct structures (73%) have been assembled. The plan is to complete concrete work at stations 401, 402, and 403 by the end of 2026. Three stations are planned to be built in this direction.
  • Towards the Zhagalau microdistrict. The project includes the construction of eight stations. Geological surveys are complete. Currently, work is underway to install fencing and relocate utility networks for subsequent construction work.
  • Towards the "Astana-1" railway station (right bank). Nine stations are planned in this direction, including transfer station 201. Geological surveys are complete. Construction of the transfer hub near stations 201/301 along Syganak Avenue is ongoing (between the Kabanbay Batyr and Turan Avenues). Two supports have been concreted between Kazakh Radio Street and Kabanbay Batyr Avenue. Pile and foundation installation work is also in progress. Preparations are underway at other sites for further construction and installation work.

The development of the light rail network is an important step towards creating a modern and convenient transport system in our capital," wrote Zhenis Kassymbek, reports ZHK24, citing the website of the Akimat of Astana.
