Ministry of Energy Expands International R&D Cooperation in Energy and Digital Technologies

As part of the Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence, three agreements were signed at the AI & Digital Bridge 2026 international forum to promote international scientific and technological cooperation in energy, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure.

The Ministry of Energy is actively enhancing the scientific and technological potential of the fuel and energy sector, while fostering international cooperation in innovation, digitalization, and the implementation of advanced technologies. The Sectoral Center for Technological Competencies (SCTC) plays a crucial role in these efforts.

In this context, joint R&D center initiatives with leading Chinese scientific and technological partners are underway at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

A joint R&D center with Power China Chengdu Engineering Corporation Limited is planned in the field of alternative and renewable energy. This center will focus on conducting applied research, developing and implementing innovative energy technologies, and executing joint scientific and technical projects, as well as training qualified personnel.

In collaboration with Fudan University, there are plans to establish a Kazakh-Chinese R&D center for the applied use of artificial intelligence at KazNU. This center will be dedicated to the development, adaptation, testing, and practical implementation of AI solutions in key economic sectors of Kazakhstan, including energy, industry, oil and gas, transportation, and other fields. Dominor Partners Limited will participate as a strategic industrial partner, bridging scientific developments with practical economic tasks.

A joint R&D center is also envisioned with Shenzhen EAGET Innovation Technology Co., Ltd., focusing on digital data storage technologies. The collaboration will involve conducting applied research and development, creating and implementing data storage technologies, executing joint scientific and technical projects, and developing competencies in modern digital infrastructure.

The Ministry of Energy coordinates the development of these initiatives within the energy sector, ensuring cooperation with the academic community, international technology partners, and industry organizations. The SCTC facilitates sectoral technological cooperation and promotes the advancement of applied solutions for further piloting and implementation.

These initiatives aim to develop national scientific and technological potential, transfer cutting-edge technologies, train highly qualified personnel, and create conditions for the practical implementation of innovative solutions in Kazakhstan's fuel and energy complex.
