Almaty Nears Completion of Preparations for the Heating Season
Almaty is on track to complete preparations for the 2026-2027 heating season, with utilities focusing on residential and social facilities.

Preparations for the 2026–2027 heating season in Almaty continue as the city's public utilities work according to approved schedules. These efforts were discussed in a meeting chaired by Almaty Mayor Darkhan Satybaldy.
Utilities and energy companies are executing activities with a focus on residential buildings and social facilities. Nearly all apartment buildings are ready for the winter period, and educational and healthcare facilities are fully prepared.
At the same time, heating sources and utility networks are being prepped. Specialists conduct hydraulic tests, along with ongoing repairs and the reconstruction of heating systems. This year, more than 20 km of heating networks are set to be upgraded, insulation is being replaced, and equipment is being prepared for winter demands.
At city heating plants, main equipment is being repaired and necessary fuel reserves are being stocked up. A significant portion of planned activities has already been completed, with boiler houses undergoing final preparation and commissioning stages.

Simultaneously, the electrical grid infrastructure is being modernized. Power lines, substations, and transformer equipment are being updated across the city. Hundreds of kilometers of electrical networks are set to be modernized as part of the program.
Other essential systems are also being prepared. Reconstruction of scheduled gas pipeline sections is nearly complete, and equipment maintenance is underway. In the water supply and sewage systems, engineering networks are being renovated.
Public utilities and energy companies must complete the remaining repairs and commissioning work before the cold sets in to ensure the city's infrastructure operates smoothly in winter.
