Almaty residents are urged to pay overdue water and sewerage bills, totaling over 550 million tenge, to avoid service restrictions.

Almaty Residents Urged to Avoid Water Supply and Sewerage Service Debts

In Almaty, the total debt of residents for water supply and sewerage services has exceeded 550 million tenge. The municipal enterprise "Almaty Su" has called upon residents to pay their utility bills on time and prevent debt accumulation, as overdue payments could lead to serious consequences, including water supply restrictions.

According to the company, about 250 million tenge is owed by residents of apartment buildings, while over 300 million tenge is attributed to the private sector.

Teams from "Almaty Su" regularly conduct visits to debtors' homes to deliver notices regarding the need to settle outstanding debts and explain the consequences of untimely payments.

"Almaty Su" clarified that water and sewerage bills are issued monthly by the 15th of the following month. These bills must be paid by the 25th. If payment is not received, as of the 26th, the debt is considered overdue, and late fees begin to accumulate, increasing the total amount owed.

If a resident fails to clear their debt, the enterprise is entitled to restrict or cease water supply. Consumers will be notified of the impending restriction three calendar days in advance. Such actions are taken in accordance with legal procedures. However, restricting or disconnecting the water supply does not relieve residents of their obligation to settle the outstanding debt.

If debts remain unpaid for an extended period, "Almaty Su" may resort to contacting a notary or taking court action to recover the funds. In this scenario, the debtor would not only owe for water and sewerage but also pay the penalties and costs associated with debt recovery.

If the case is handed over to judicial executors, they have the authority to freeze bank accounts, garnish wages or other income, and seize property to settle the debt. In cases prescribed by law, there may also be temporary restrictions on leaving Kazakhstan.

The enterprise "Almaty Su" has urged residents to regularly check their account balances and pay their bills within the established timelines. If a debt has already formed, they recommend settling it as soon as possible to prevent further accumulation and legal enforcement.

Timely payment of utility bills is also essential for the stable and uninterrupted operation of Almaty's water supply and sewerage systems.
