Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy Develops Platform to Monitor Coal Supplies Ahead of Heating Season

The Ministry of Energy is working to ensure that residents and the public utility sector are adequately supplied with coal for the upcoming heating season. A Republican Headquarters has been established to coordinate the deliveries, and a Unified Digital Platform with elements of artificial intelligence and predictive analytics is overseeing the movement of fuel. This was reported by Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenshenov during a Government meeting.

It was noted that the demand for coal from the population and the public utility sector for the forthcoming heating season is estimated at 7.3 million tons, including 1.6 million tons for the utility sector and 5.7 million tons for the population.

The minister stated that compared to the previous heating season, when actual consumption was 8.3 million tons, the demand volume has decreased. This reduction is due to the implementation of the General Scheme for the country's gasification through 2035.

To ensure an uninterrupted supply of coal to the regions, the ministry has developed a Unified Digital Platform featuring artificial intelligence and predictive analytics. The system integrates data from 36 coal mining enterprises, rail transport processes involving 29,000 gondola cars, activities of 586 coal terminal operators, as well as information on more than 1.2 million consumers.

The platform enables real-time tracking of coal movement at all stages—from extraction and dispatch to delivery to the population and the utility sector—and can automatically identify risks of shortages and deviations from approved schedules.

As noted by Yerlan Akkenshenov, the ministry has taken all necessary measures to ensure that the domestic market is supplied with the required coal volumes for the upcoming heating season, reports ЖКХ24 citing the Ministry of Energy's website.
