Water Supply in Kazakhstan: Focus on Quality, Reliability, and Digitalization

Ensuring the population has access to quality drinking water remains one of the key priorities of the state policy of Kazakhstan and directly influences the living standards of citizens.

Since 2021 until the first quarter of 2026, more than 835 billion tenge has been directed towards the development of the water supply system. During this period, access to centralized water has been provided to residents of 34 cities and 756 rural settlements. Additionally, modern block-module water purification stations have been installed in 699 villages.

Significant projects have been implemented for the construction and reconstruction of water supply networks, modernization of water intake facilities, and renewal of infrastructure.

To systematically address accumulated issues, the National Project "Modernization of the Energy and Utilities Sectors" has been approved.

The document envisions a comprehensive upgrade of the industry: from modernizing facilities to implementing digital solutions and improving energy efficiency. By 2030, it is planned to reduce the wear and tear of utility networks to 40%.

Special attention is paid to digitalization. Modern metering devices, automated control systems (SCADA, АСКУВ), and Smart Water elements are being implemented. This will reduce water losses, enhance accounting transparency, and ensure the stable operation of systems.

The set of measures being taken is aimed at the main goal — reliable and quality water supply for every resident of the country.
