Systemic Issues in Tekeli Resolved in Four Years, Announces Beibit Isabayev

Since the establishment of the Zhetisu region, the city of Tekeli has tackled numerous systemic challenges, including water and gas supply, road repairs, and the elimination of hazardous housing. This was announced by the regional head, Beibit Isabayev, during a meeting where the new city mayor was introduced, according to the Zhetisu Regional Department of Energy and Housing and Utilities Services website.

Firstly, the issue of quality water supply has been addressed. In recent years, new boreholes have been drilled, reservoirs and filtration stations have been constructed, and main water supply networks have been laid.

"The issue of drinking water quality has been pressing in Tekeli for the last 20-25 years. Residents have constantly approached me with justified complaints. In recent years, several measures have been taken to address this issue. The final stage remains—the repair of intra-city networks. All necessary funds are allocated, and by the beginning of the 2027-2028 heating season, the water supply problem in Tekeli will be conclusively resolved. Simultaneously, work on the reconstruction of sewer networks is underway, and the construction of wastewater treatment facilities is planned," emphasized the regional head.

Another current concern is the gasification of the city. From 2023 to 2025, Tekeli has been connected to gas networks. A total of 194.2 km of gas distribution networks have been constructed, providing gas pipelines to 187 apartment buildings. Over 30,000 residents now have access to natural gas.

The third initiative focuses on addressing hazardous housing. At the time of the region's establishment, Tekeli had 22 dangerous apartment buildings. As of today, this problem has been resolved, with 212 apartments provided to residents of these buildings. Over the past four years, three apartment buildings with 120 apartments have been constructed in Tekeli, and construction of two more buildings with 60 apartments has been completed. Housing has been acquired for 84 families from socially vulnerable categories. Additionally, 21 roofs and 8 facades of buildings in the city have been refurbished. Ten yards have been repaired, and 27 play and sports areas have been built.

The fourth focus area is road repairs. The longest street in Kazakhstan, D. Kunaev Street, has been repaired in Tekeli. Other roads have also been updated, with lighting installed on 31 streets.

"Together, we've been able to resolve systemic issues that have remained unaddressed for decades. Four complex infrastructure projects, directly impacting the population's quality of life, have been almost entirely implemented," noted B. Isabayev.

The regional head also mentioned that the Tekeli Energy Complex expansion project is being implemented by an investor using their own funds, contributing to the city's sustainable electricity and heat supply. The cumulative increase in the facility's installed capacity at the current stage is 53 MW.
