Astana to Construct New Water Supply Facilities
Astana plans to build new water supply facilities to enhance infrastructure and meet rising water consumption demands.

The mayor of Astana, Zhenis Kassymbek, announced plans for the construction of new water supply facilities in the capital. In his Instagram post, he emphasized that infrastructure development, including water supply, is a priority for the city.
"As the city develops, we pay special attention to infrastructure. We are modernizing and constructing heating supply, electricity, sewage, stormwater, water supply systems, and more. I would like to particularly focus on the city's water supply," the statement reads.
According to Kassymbek, water consumption this year reached 380,000 m³/day, an increase from last year’s 340,000 m³/day. Various facilities are being implemented and upgraded to enhance water supply capacity in the city.
Among the key projects is the third pumping and filtration station (PFS-3), with a capacity of 105,000 m³/day. Next year, a project to expand this station is planned, adding another 70,000 m³/day.

Additionally, the implementation of a technical water pipeline from the Telman pumping station is ongoing, with 10.5 km out of the planned 13.2 km of networks already laid. This pipeline will supply 50,000 m³/day of raw water to the water treatment facilities.
Moreover, work is currently underway on the fourth pumping and filtration station (PFS-4) with a feeder pipeline from the K. Satpayev canal, with a capacity of 210,000 m³/day.
In total, around 20 major water supply network construction projects are planned for the coming years, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted water supply for the capital, considering its further development and increase in water consumption," added Zhenis Kassymbek.
