Medeu District of Almaty Adopts New Approach to Urban Development
Medeu District in Almaty introduces unique urban development concepts for public spaces, focusing on themes like space and community engagement.

In the Medeu district of Almaty, a novel approach to creating public spaces is being implemented, where each area is given a unique concept and identity. This was announced by the district's Akim, Yerkebulan Orazalin.
One such project is the renovation of the space near the Palace of Schoolchildren, where the concept will be centered around the theme of space. The area will feature art installations and landscaping elements related to planets. The space is designed primarily for children and families, combining recreational and educational functions.
Additionally, there are plans to enhance the viewing platform on Al-Farabi Avenue, creating a full-fledged public space with greenery, walking paths, and relaxation zones.
Yerkebulan Orazalin emphasized that the new approach eliminates the use of standard urban development elements. Each space is designed considering the purpose of the area, the surrounding landscape, and potential usage scenarios by residents.

Medeu District in Almaty Shifts Green Area Irrigation to Alternative Water Sources
Medeu District in Almaty plans to switch to river water for irrigation, aiming to reduce drinking water use during summer months.

The Medeu District of Almaty is planning to switch its automatic irrigation systems for green areas to using river water. This move aims to reduce the consumption of drinking water for irrigation purposes and decrease the burden on the centralized water supply system.
This was announced by Medeu District Mayor Erkebulan Orazalin during a briefing by the Almaty Regional Communications Service. According to him, the new approach is particularly relevant during the summer months when the city's water consumption spikes.
"Utilizing alternative sources will enable the irrigation of public spaces without adding additional stress to the 'Almaty Su' networks and the residential water supply system," states the district mayor.
