Kazakhstan Advances Modernization of Energy and Utility Sectors Under National Project

Kazakhstan is continuing the implementation of the National Project "Modernization of Energy and Utility Sectors," which aims at upgrading the engineering infrastructure and enhancing the quality of utility services.

As part of the National Project, the plan includes the modernization and construction of energy and utility infrastructure facilities, the introduction of modern digital and energy-efficient technologies, and the improvement of the investment appeal of the sector. The execution of this National Project will reduce the wear and tear of engineering networks across the country to 40%.

The total investment volume is set to be 13 trillion tenge, with 6.2 trillion tenge allocated for the energy sector and 6.8 trillion tenge for the utility sector.

Under the Ministry of Industry and Construction, the modernization of approximately 8,000 km of water supply and sewage networks is foreseen, along with the implementation of 45 projects for the construction and modernization of sewage treatment facilities.

To support projects at all stages, a Unified Electronic Platform has been launched, enabling projects to be implemented on a "turnkey" basis (EPC contracts) and supporting domestic manufacturers.

Currently, the platform hosts 112 water supply and sewage projects totaling 320 billion tenge, which are at various stages of approval.
