Almaty Incorporates Residents' Suggestions in Updated General Plan for 2040
Almaty city council updates General Plan for 2040 with resident input, focusing on sustainable development and urban planning.

During an extraordinary session of the Almaty city council, Deputy Mayor Beibut Shakhanov outlined the key features of the revised General Plan up to 2040, which received a positive review from the comprehensive urban planning assessment.
He emphasized that collaboration with city residents was an essential part of the General Plan revision process. According to Beibut Shakhanov, suggestions and requests gathered from public discussions were analyzed and incorporated into the project decisions wherever feasible, considering legal and urban planning constraints. Special attention was also given to the strategic environmental assessment and ongoing public oversight of the General Plan's implementation.
"The further implementation of the General Plan holds particular significance. Approving the document forms the foundation for the city's future development, but the key phase will be the consistent execution of the solutions outlined within it. Therefore, it is crucial to ensure the continuous monitoring of the General Plan's implementation, adherence to construction parameters, timely development of social and engineering infrastructure, and preservation of green and natural spaces. Constant feedback with residents and informing them about the execution of major projects will remain an important component.
