Astana Continues to Enhance Urban Spaces

In 2023, Astana is undergoing significant transformations aimed at creating modern and comfortable public spaces for residents and visitors. As part of its urban beautification program, the city plans to update 173 sites, including parks, squares, boulevards, and pedestrian areas, according to the Astana city government's website.

One of the key projects is the development of the "Myngzhyldyk" Alley, where active work is underway on two sections: near the K. Kuanishbayev Drama Theater and the "Nurly Zhol" station. A new public space of approximately 1.4 hectares will be established here, featuring walking areas, bike paths, children's playgrounds, and green spaces. Also, the installation of the "Constellation" fountain is ongoing, which is expected to be fully operational by the end of August.

An important aspect of all projects is landscaping, with plans to plant trees, shrubs, perennial flowers, and arrange lawns. The demolition of old structures near the "Astana Silk" market and shopping complex previously allowed for the creation of a landscaped area with new greenery and relaxation spaces.

Transformations will also affect Samal Park, a new residential quarter near Al-Farabi Avenue, and the streets of Kerei and Zhanibek Khans. These areas will include rest zones, play areas, a pond, and observation points.

Additionally, a new landscaped square with a "Dragon" play complex is planned at B. Momyshuly Avenue and K. Satpayev Street. The beautification will also include the arrangement of the banks of the Akbulak and Yesil rivers, spanning approximately 2.5 kilometers.

The comprehensive reconstruction on B. Momyshuly Avenue includes a "green corridor" with 915 trees and an automatic irrigation system, as well as bike paths and widened sidewalks.

Beautification work continues in other parts of the capital: under the "Public Participation Budget" project, residents can propose ideas for improving their courtyards. This year, applications have been selected for implementation in six districts of the capital, with over 60 courtyards already enhanced.

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev previously raised the issue of developing urban infrastructure, and in recent years, around 500 public and courtyard spaces have been beautified in Astana.
