Infrastructure Modernization and Tariff Setting Discussed in Astana

Today in Astana, a seminar-meeting was held on the topic 'Localization of Production within the Framework of the National Project Modernization of the Energy and Utility Sectors (MEEU)'. The event gathered representatives from government bodies, natural monopoly entities, domestic manufacturers, as well as industry experts and business representatives.

The seminar addressed issues of production localization, participation of Kazakhstan's manufacturers in MEEU projects, standardization, enterprise cooperation, tariff setting, and the inclusion of domestic products in project documentation.

At the opening of the event, Timur Qosymbayev, Chairman of the Committee for the Regulation of Natural Monopolies of the Ministry of National Economy of Kazakhstan, noted that since the beginning of the year, the National Project MEEU has entered an active implementation phase.

'As of today, the Electronic Platform has collected 515 projects amounting to 1.4 trillion tenge. By May, nearly half of these, specifically 225 projects worth over 450 billion tenge, have been marked as 'ready for implementation',' stated the chairman.

According to the chairman, the implementation of the National Project opens up significant prospects for domestic manufacturers, as the government provides them with a guaranteed, long-term, and large-scale demand for building materials, cables, pipes, and equipment.

Meanwhile, guaranteed volumes by the state should not lead to unjustified price increases. > 'Any unreasonable price hike in materials directly impacts the wallet of the end consumer, gets included in tariffs for the population, and provokes social tension in society. This is unacceptable,' he emphasized.

The seminar also featured an exhibition area showcasing products from Kazakh manufacturers and a B2B platform for direct negotiations, consultations, and project application discussions for the MEEU. The program included discussion panels dedicated to production localization, the adoption of new technologies, tariff policy, standardization, and expanded cooperation among domestic enterprises.
