Astana's Fire Station No. 8 Revitalized After Major Overhaul

In Astana's Baykonyr district, a major overhaul of Fire Station No. 8 has been completed, significantly improving the working conditions for the rescue service staff.

The renovation included upgrades to the garage, engineering networks, and facilities for servicing special equipment. The station's grounds now feature a sports area and relaxation zones. Currently, four specially equipped vehicles are on active duty.

Fire Station No. 8 is responsible for fire safety in the Baykonyr district. The building underwent complete modernization during the major overhaul, and the garage for fire trucks was reequipped. The surrounding area has been landscaped, and a washing bay for servicing special equipment has been installed.

Attention was given not only to operational services but also to the living conditions for rescue workers. The station's premises now include modern workout and football fields, refreshed relaxation areas, and newly planted trees and flowers, thus providing a comfortable environment for staff relaxation and physical training. The personnel has also been equipped with new specialized uniforms.

Currently, the station has four specially equipped vehicles ready for immediate response, including high-rise equipment (turntable ladders) and vehicles based on KamAZ and Ural, each adapted for rapid dispatch to fire sites.

Unit Commander Aidyn Bazarbekuly emphasized, "I've been serving here since April 2009. Over these years, we've faced many challenges. The main task for a rescuer is to help people. I especially remember our work during the 2022 fires in Kostanay region. During that time, we personally received gratitude from the residents and felt their appreciation. Those moments remind us how important our work is. This is a great responsibility and pride for us."

The updated facility, modern equipment, and enhanced conditions all contribute to improving the combat readiness of the rescue services and saving lives during emergencies.

Upgraded Infrastructure and 35 km of Cable Lines Restored in Almaty's Auezov District

Two major infrastructure projects have been completed in Almaty's Auezov District, providing central city communications to around 6,000 residents. This update was reported by Auezov District Akim Abzal Yegemberdiev at a press conference with Almaty's Regional Communications Service.

In the Dostyk neighborhood, 15.7 km of engineering networks have been constructed, including 14.6 km of sewage systems and 1.1 km of water supply lines. These new networks cover 800 homes where 3,500 people reside.

In the second phase of the streets Sain, Shalyapin, Yassaui, and Zhandosov, 24.8 km of networks have been laid—equally split between sewage and water supply systems. This project affects 500 private homes, housing 2,500 individuals.

"In total, about six thousand residents in these areas will now have access to central city communications. This achievement is the outcome of the completed infrastructure network projects," noted Abzal Yegemberdiev.

Simultaneously, existing communal networks in the district are being upgraded. Under the direction of "Almaty Su," 2.5 km of sewage networks have been reconstructed in micro-districts No. 8, No. 10, Tastak-1, Sairan, and on Sain Street.

Under the management of "Almaty Thermal Networks," 2.1 km of thermal networks have been reconstructed in the micro-districts Mamyr-1, Mamyr-3, Taugul-1, Aksay-2, and Aksay-4, as well as on Sain Street and Raimbek Avenue.

"Currently, there is ongoing reconstruction of 5.3 km of water supply networks in micro-district No. 1 and 600 meters of thermal networks in micro-districts No. 5, Aksay-4, and Zhetysu-2. The completion of these works is expected by October 15 this year. The reconstruction involves both water supply and heating networks," said the district akim.

Special attention is being paid to street lighting. This year, 35 km of cable lines have been restored, 234 lighting poles have been installed, and 1,859 light fixtures have been replaced.

"By the end of 2026, an additional 8 kilometers of cable lines are planned for restoration, 35 lighting poles will be installed, and 474 light fixtures will be replaced. The total budget for these lighting works is 900 million tenge. Work on street lighting continues," emphasized Abzal Yegemberdiev.
