AI in Energy Sector: Seminar Held in Almaty Explores Applications
A seminar on AI applications in the energy sector was held in Almaty, bringing together over 300 participants and featuring insights from AI expert Dr. Kai-Fu Lee.

A sector-specific seminar titled "AI for Energy" was held at the Alem.ai International Center for Artificial Intelligence. Organized by the Ministry of Energy, the event focused on the practical application of artificial intelligence technologies within the fuel and energy sector.
The seminar brought together representatives from government bodies, national companies, energy industry enterprises, the expert community, and international partners. In total, participants from over 300 organizations in the fuel and energy sector attended the event.
A distinguished guest at the seminar was Dr. Kai-Fu Lee, a globally renowned AI expert, chairman of the board and CEO of 01.AI, and an adjunct advisor to the President of Kazakhstan.
Opening the seminar, Deputy Minister of Energy Bakhytzhan Ilyas highlighted that the integration of artificial intelligence technology in the energy sector is becoming a key factor in enhancing the efficiency of production processes, as well as the reliability and safety of the energy infrastructure. According to him, digital solutions open up new opportunities for forecasting, managing, and optimizing the operations of industry enterprises.
During the seminar, Dr. Kai-Fu Lee presented international experiences in implementing AI in public administration and the energy sector, as well as discussed current trends in the development of artificial intelligence technologies.
As part of the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by the Ministry of Energy, 01.AI, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, aimed at developing joint projects in digital transformation, workforce training, and implementing AI technologies in the energy sector.
The seminar program featured thematic lectures on the use of artificial intelligence in public administration, the digital transformation of energy, the role of the energy sector in AI development, and decision-making in the face of rapid technological advancements. Participants discussed best international practices, the prospects for implementing intelligent solutions, and the next steps in the digitalization of Kazakhstan's fuel and energy sector.
