Almaty Enhances Panfilov Street Under 'Participatory Budgeting' Program

In Almaty, residents have initiated the enhancement of a section of Panfilov Street, stretching from Zhibek Zholy Avenue to Raiymbek Avenue. This project, part of the 'Participatory Budgeting' program, has been underway since May this year, as reported by the Almalinsky District Administration.

The 1.7-hectare area will extend the pedestrian route in the city's historic center, providing a more comfortable path to the Almaty-2 railway station.

The main focus of the enhancement is on greenery. An area of 1 hectare will see the preservation of existing trees, the sowing of 10,000 square meters of lawn, and the planting of 18,000 perennial shrubs along the roadway. Automated and drip irrigation systems are planned for maintaining the green spaces.

Pedestrian infrastructure will be updated over 0.7 hectares. The section will feature 6,325 square meters of paving stones and 750 square meters of asphalt coverage, with 20 trash bins and 106 new lighting poles installed. To power these, 2.1 kilometers of cable lines are being laid.

The district administration noted that the improvements will make the lower part of Panfilov Street brighter, safer, and more convenient for pedestrians.
