Sewage Services: Composition and Importance for the Utility System

The sewage system is a key element of housing and communal infrastructure, ensuring sanitary safety, environmental sustainability, and comfort for the population. In the context of urban growth and modernization of the utility sector, issues of effective waste water removal and treatment acquire strategic importance.

As part of the implementation of the National Project for the modernization of the energy and utility sectors in the Republic of Kazakhstan, measures are planned for:

• Reconstruction and construction of sewage networks;
• Modernization of treatment facilities;
• Introduction of digital solutions;
• Reduction of wear and accident rates.

According to the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, sewage refers to a complex of technologically linked processes aimed at the removal and treatment of waste water.

The effective operation of sewage systems ensures:

• Sanitary and epidemiological safety;
• Environmental protection;
• Reliability of urban infrastructure;
• Quality of life for the population.

Currently, in a number of regions, problems persist with network wear, insufficient capacity of treatment facilities, and low levels of automation. In general, the country plans to modernize about 2.8 thousand km of sewage networks, which will improve the reliability and efficiency of the sector.
