Preparation for the Heating Season Underway in Astana

Astana is actively gearing up for the upcoming heating season. Astana Mayor Zhenis Kassymbek announced this on his Instagram account, highlighting the importance of these efforts for the normal functioning of the city's infrastructure.

"Ensuring a stable and safe transition through the autumn and winter period is one of the key tasks to maintaining the normal functioning of the city. This is why we start preparing the capital for the heating season as early as spring. As part of this effort, we carry out repairs and upgrades to the thermal energy complex, as well as the construction of major engineering infrastructure projects," the message reads.

This year, plans include the repair of 10 boilers and 3 turbines at CHP-1, as well as 14 boilers and 6 turbo generators at CHP-2. Additionally, there are plans for the overhaul and reconstruction of 7.5 kilometers of heating networks, repairs to 67.4 kilometers of overhead and cable lines, 68 distribution and transformer substations, and other electrical infrastructure facilities.

Given the city's rapid development, several major projects are underway. Specifically, the "Telman" gas-fired power plant is being constructed. This facility will have a production capacity of 620 Gcal per hour, with commissioning planned for this year.

Furthermore, the expansion and reconstruction of hot water boilers at CHP-2 continues, with the installation of boilers No. 7 and No. 8, which will increase heat output by 360 Gcal per hour. The new equipment is scheduled to be operational next year.

According to the approved master plan, design and survey work is being conducted on the expansion of the "Southeast" and "Southwest" gas-fired power plants, which will have a total thermal capacity of 940 Gcal per hour.

All these projects aim not only to increase the production capacity of the engineering infrastructure and create the necessary reserves, but also to enhance the reliability of the city's essential systems.
