Ministry of Energy Evaluates Capabilities of Meter Manufacturers in Almaty as Part of MEKS and Digital Qazaqstan Initiatives
The Deputy Minister of Energy evaluates meter manufacturers in Almaty, aligning with MEKS and Digital Qazaqstan initiatives to enhance energy management.

Deputy Minister of Energy, Bakhytzhan Ilyas, visited several Almaty-based companies—"Saiman," "Mirtek," "NERO GROUP," and "Goldcard Smart Group Kazakhstan"—as part of the national project "Modernization of the Energy and Utilities Sector" (MEKS) and the goals of the Digital Qazaqstan strategy.
During these visits, the Deputy Minister explored the companies' production capacities, technologies for creating electricity and heat meters, gas meters, and their potential for localizing production.
Special attention was given to the accuracy of measurements, automated data collection and transmission, equipment compatibility, and its integration with information systems.
The implementation of smart metering systems will improve the reliability of energy consumption data, enable real-time monitoring, and set conditions for identifying and reducing losses. For consumers, this will enhance the transparency of accounting and billing for the actually consumed resources.

During the visit to LLP "Saiman Corporation," the Deputy Minister examined the company's production potential and plans to expand its capacities. The declared annual capacity reaches 800,000 electricity meters, 600,000 water meters, 300,000 gas meters, and 8,000 heat meters. Additional production facilities are currently under construction.
The completion of the project for acquiring and overhauling facilities to house the instrument manufacturing plant is scheduled for November 2026.
The Ministry of Energy will continue to work on modernizing metering systems, considering the production potential of Kazakhstani enterprises and the requirements for integrating digital solutions. Reports ЖКХ24, citing the Ministry of Energy's website.
