Tekeli Energy Complex in Zhetisu Region Boosts Generation by 53 MW
The Tekeli Energy Complex in Zhetisu Region completes modernization, boosting capacity by 53 MW to support Kazakhstan's growing energy demands.
The Ministry of Energy is actively working to enhance energy capacity to meet the growing needs of the country's economy.
As part of the President's directives to expand energy capabilities, the latest phase of modernization of the Tekeli Energy Complex in the Zhetisu Region has been completed. Three waste heat boilers and a steam turbine with a 17 MW generator have been commissioned.
This project continues the energy complex's modernization program. Previously, in 2025, two stages of modernization were successfully completed, including the introduction of three gas turbine units totaling 36 MW. Thus, the total installed capacity of the Tekeli Energy Complex has increased by 53 MW.
This year, Kazakhstan plans to commission 2.6 GW of traditional and renewable energy capacity. The launch of 4 combined cycle gas turbines, 4 wind power plants, 5 solar power plants is planned, as well as the expansion of two power plants in Atyrau and Tekeli. Previously, a combined cycle gas turbine was launched in Kyzylorda with a capacity of 240 MW.
The implementation of these projects will resolve the energy deficit issue by the first quarter of 2027, and achieve a stable electricity surplus by 2029.
