Renovated Park Opens in Ushtobe, Zhetisu Region as Part of 'Clean Kazakhstan' Initiative
The renovated central park in Ushtobe, Zhetisu Region, opens as part of the 'Clean Kazakhstan' initiative, featuring modern amenities for residents.

Ahead of Republic Day, the city of Ushtobe in the Zhetisu region unveiled its newly renovated central park, part of the 'Clean Kazakhstan' initiative. This park is one of seven in the region undergoing upgrades this year, according to the Zhetisu regional administration's press service.
The grand opening was attended by District Akim Ulan Dosymbekov, veterans, youth representatives, and local residents—approximately 1,500 people in total.
Addressing the crowd, the district akim read a congratulatory letter from the region's head, Beibit Isabayev.
"Today you witnessed the transformation of this park, created as part of the 'Clean Kazakhstan' program initiated by the Head of State, which has given a new impetus to urban and settlement beautification. Here, you'll find everything needed for leisure—from an amphitheater to children's playgrounds. Now, it's your responsibility to take care of this asset. I'm confident this park will become a favorite spot for city dwellers. I wish prosperity to Zhetisu and success to everyone!" the message states.
A veteran of labor, Rakyngali Otegenov, spoke on behalf of the residents, wishing peace and well-being to all. A ribbon was cut for the symbolic opening of the park, after which attendees planted around 50 deciduous trees.
The Ushtobe Central Park was established in 1936, and its last renovation was in 2015. Now, after more than a decade, it has been updated to modern standards for the benefit of residents. The park covers an area of 6.6 hectares.
The renovated park offers all the amenities for leisure activities, family strolls, and sports. It features sports and children's playgrounds, a 200-seat amphitheater, various small architectural forms, and fountains. The 'Zheti Kazyna' area introduces visitors to the national culture and history of the region. Since the beginning of the year, 1,200 trees have been planted in the park: 750 pines and 450 birches. A drip irrigation system has been implemented for the green spaces.
Residents who attended the opening shared their impressions.
"I've lived in Ushtobe since the 1980s. After graduation, I was assigned to work at the local forestry department. Now I'm retired. Our city has noticeably improved: roads are being repaired, streets are being beautified, and there's more greenery. The renovation of the park is especially delightful. It used to be neglected; the old trees had aged, and the recreational facilities were inconvenient. Now, after the renovation, it's pleasantly unrecognizable. There are even surveillance cameras, which will help keep it in good condition. I hope the youth will treat the environment with care. Now we can walk here with our grandchildren," shared Kopbay Akimov.

"This year, Ushtobe turns 65. The opening of the park is a great gift for our memorable anniversary and ahead of Republic Day. The regional akim promised to renovate the park at the beginning of the year and has kept his word. On behalf of the residents, I thank the regional leadership. I urge everyone to treat the park and nature with care for future generations!" said local resident Nikita Opryshko.
It's worth noting that under the urban improvement and creation of a comfortable environment program for 2022–2025 in the Zhetisu region, 40 parks have been renovated; this year, 7 parks, 1 square, and 4 alleys have been upgraded. Since the establishment of the region, 14 new parks, 6 squares, and 4 alleys have been built in Taldykorgan city and Ak-Su, Alakol, Yeskeldy, Karatal, Kerbulak, Koksu, and Panfilov districts.
Furthermore, the region has established three eco-parks in the cities of Taldykorgan, Tekeli, and Sarkand, with a fourth planned in the village of Kapal in the Aksu district, promoting the development of ecological and cultural & historical tourism in Zhetisu, and popularizing the natural and historical features of the area.
