New Social Facilities for 6,100 Students and 260 Children in Kindergarten Being Built in Turkibskiy District, Almaty
New social facilities including schools, kindergartens, and medical centers are being built in Turkibskiy District, Almaty.

The Turkibskiy District of Almaty is seeing a significant expansion in its social infrastructure, with new schools, kindergartens, medical facilities, and sports and cultural centers under construction. District Akim Damir Akezhanov shared details of the current and upcoming projects during a press conference at the Almaty Regional Communications Service.
New Schools and Renovations
Building schools in rapidly growing residential areas has been a priority. In September 2026, four schools with a total capacity of 6,100 students were opened under the national project "Keleshek Mektepteri". These include schools in the Time City complex for 2,000 students, Parassat for 600, Altyn City for 1,500, and Jeti Qazyna for 2,000. In August, an extension for 125 students was completed at Public School No. 170.
Upcoming Educational Projects
New projects are also in the pipeline. In October 2026, the state review of documentation for the renovation of School No. 142 is expected. A similar stage is planned by the year's end for School No. 84, as well as the construction of new buildings for Schools No. 89 and No. 74, which will accommodate 1,200 and 1,500 students respectively. The project for School No. 20, set to serve 1,200 students, aims for approval in the first quarter of 2027.
"Construction has begun on two projects: the renovation and extension of Gymnasium School No. 78 for 450 students and an addition to Gymnasium School No. 198 for 600 students. These projects are expected to be completed by August 2027. This will reduce the shortage of student places, ease the burden on existing institutions, and create modern learning environments for children," noted Damir Akezhanov.
Expansion of Preschool Network
In June 2026, a kindergarten with a capacity of 260 children was completed in the Kairat microdistrict. Four more projects are in preparation: renovation of Nursery-Kindergarten No. 119 in Altai, construction of kindergartens for 190 children on Ogaryova Street and for 240 in the Almerik microdistrict, as well as completing construction and seismic reinforcement of a kindergarten for 280 children in Zhas Kanat. The project on Ogaryova Street is set for a review in March 2027, with the Zhas Kanat facility to follow in April. Documentation for the kindergartens in Altai and Almerik is expected to be approved by the end of 2026. This will help reduce the queue for preschool facilities.

Enhancing Medical Accessibility
Special attention is being paid to improving access to medical care. Two major projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2026: an ambulatory clinic on Aibasova Street for 200 appointments and a polyclinic on Namanganskaya Street for 500 visitors, which will ensure proximity and accessibility of medical services. Project and budget documentation are being developed for four more healthcare facilities: family medical clinics in Almerik and RV-90, each serving 200 appointments, renovation of City Clinical Hospital No. 8, and a polyclinic for 340 visits in Kairat. The review of documentation for the clinics and Hospital No. 8 is scheduled for October 2026, with the new clinic in Kairat planned for December.
Spaces for Sports and Creativity
Additionally, new sports and creative facilities are being constructed. In the Zhas Kanat microdistrict, a Development and Creativity Center is being built, set for completion in December 2026. A fitness and health complex is being erected on the "Aviator" stadium grounds, planned to complete in November 2027. The design of another fitness complex on Osipenko Street is underway.
These new educational, medical, and sports facilities are expected to increase service accessibility in the Turkibskiy District and alleviate the load on existing institutions.
