Sewer System Launched in Ulagat Neighborhood, Shymkent
The Ulagat neighborhood in Shymkent has launched a new sewer system, enabling over 2,200 subscribers to connect to it.

The Ulagat neighborhood in the city of Shymkent has launched a sewer system, enabling more than 2,200 subscribers to connect to the centralized system.
The project involved the development of design and estimate documentation for the construction of sewage networks, which received a positive state expert review in 2021. In 2022–2023, budgetary funds were allocated for the construction works. Construction was carried out by the contracting company AlemStroy-1 LLP. The acceptance certificate for the facility was issued at the end of 2024. Although the construction of the sewage networks, with a total length of 40.9 kilometers, was reported as fully complete, several discrepancies in the volume and quality of work were identified.
As a result of inspections, measures were taken against the contractor for failing to fulfill its obligations properly. Notably, sewer pipes totaling approximately 700 meters were not laid on four streets, the sewage pumping station was non-operational, wells were clogged, and road surfaces were not restored.

To rectify the deficiencies identified, the Shymkent City Department of Energy and Infrastructure Development facilitated the laying of the missing pipeline sections and the commissioning of the sewage pumping station using sponsorship funds. Additionally, wells were cleaned and their bases reinforced with concrete. The sewer system is now operational, allowing the possibility of connecting more than 2,200 subscribers to the centralized sewer system.
Residents wishing to connect to the centralized sewer system need to submit an application to the Public Enterprise 'Water Supply and Sewer Management' via the eGov electronic government portal.
