35 Projects Implemented in Almaty's Nauryzbay District as Part of 'Participatory Budgeting'

In Almaty's Nauryzbay district, 35 projects are being carried out under the 'Participatory Budgeting' program, which aims to enhance courtyards, create comfortable public spaces, and improve the urban environment. Some projects have already been completed, while work on others is ongoing.

The improvement of the parking area on Taraz Street has been completed as part of the 'Participatory Budgeting' program. Construction and installation work took place from April to June 2026. The project involved a comprehensive overhaul and adaptation of the area for more convenient and safe use by residents. A new asphalt-concrete surface was installed on the 2,000 square meter area, improving the condition of the parking zone and making it more comfortable for motorists. Additionally, 300 square meters of sidewalks were constructed for the convenience of pedestrians, ensuring safe passage for residents.

Moreover, a drainage system spanning 558 meters was constructed to efficiently redirect rain and meltwater, helping to maintain the area in proper condition. As a result of these efforts, the parking space acquired a more organized and functional look, and the surrounding area became more user-friendly for both drivers and pedestrians.

Another completed project is the refurbishment of a children's playground on Aitmatov Street. Construction and installation work took place from May to June 2026. The playground area was completely renovated, with old play equipment and metal fencing dismantled, a new foundation prepared, and an asphalt-concrete surface of about 385 square meters installed. To create a comfortable and safe environment for children, modern play equipment was installed, along with a special 1.5 cm thick tartan surface, ensuring a safe playing area for active games. Further, kerbstones were set, the adjacent area was landscaped, and approximately 60 cubic meters of construction debris was removed.

Special attention was paid to children's safety—the playground is fenced, allowing parents to monitor their children more calmly during outings. As a result, instead of the outdated playground, residents now have a modern, well-maintained, and safe space for children's play and active recreation, which has quickly become a popular spot for family time.

The area on Dauletkerey Street also saw improvements under the program, with the refurbishment of a children's playground. Construction and installation work took place from June to August 2026. The project entailed comprehensive updates, including the installation of kerbstones and a new asphalt-concrete surface, along with modern sports equipment and small architectural forms. Outdoor lighting was installed for the comfort and safety of children and residents, and the surrounding area was tidied up. Consequently, the updated playground has become a more functional and comfortable space for children's play, sports activities, and family relaxation.

A modern children's playground was also developed on Nurly Tan Street within the framework of the 'Participatory Budgeting' program. Construction and installation work took place from June to August 2026. This project saw the entire area comprehensively upgraded, with modern children's play equipment and small architectural forms installed, a safe tartan surface laid, outdoor lighting and fencing established. The surrounding area was also improved, making the playground more comfortable and safe for children and their parents. As a result, residents of Nurly Tan Street have gained a contemporary space for children's play, strolls, and active recreation.

Residents note that the upgraded playgrounds have already become popular family leisure destinations.

“We are very grateful to everyone involved in creating this playground. Huge thanks to the akimat for the work done. This has become an excellent place for our children to play and relax. Everything here is convenient and well thought out; there’s fencing, so we are at ease about the children’s safety. They really enjoy spending time here. We, the district's residents, are very satisfied and express our immense gratitude for such a playground," shared a district resident.
