26 Power Units and 12,000 km of Power Lines Repaired in Kazakhstan

Today, the Ministry of Energy held a meeting of the Republican Headquarters to prepare the energy sector for the upcoming heating season, discussing the results of repair works.

The meeting was attended by regional akimat leaders, representatives from joint-stock companies such as KEGOC, Samruk-Energy, CAEC, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, QazaqGaz Aimaq, KazMunayGas, Karazhyra, Intergas Central Asia, Kazakhstan Utility Systems LLP, as well as energy enterprises from across the country.

Opening the meeting, Committee Chairman Yerzhan Yertayev emphasized that the repair campaign has entered a decisive stage. "There is limited time before the heating season begins, so all repair work must be completed efficiently and in full accordance with the approved schedules," he noted.

To date, major repairs have been completed on 26 pieces of core equipment at power plants: 3 power units, 14 boilers, and 9 turbines. Currently, 54 pieces of energy equipment are undergoing repairs. On electric grids, 11,700 km of power transmission lines, 294 substations, and 2,501 distribution and transformer points have been repaired. Additionally, 139 km of heating networks have been refurbished on heating supply facilities.

Attention was called to the need to control the practical implementation of activities under the National Project for the modernization of the energy and utility sectors. To date, the Ministry of Energy has supported the implementation of 137 heating network projects.

The formation of regulatory fuel reserves for the winter continues: power plants have accumulated 3.9 million tons of coal and 138,000 tons of fuel oil. Regional operators are tasked to complete stockpiling before the start of the winter heating period. As noted by the Committee Chairman, a digital platform with AI is being introduced for supply monitoring—this will ensure transparency and track the entire route of coal from the mine to the consumer.

Special attention was given to the preparation of facilities for obtaining readiness certificates. The necessity of timely preparation of all required documentation for issuing readiness certificates was emphasized.

As a result of the meeting, regional akimats and energy enterprise leaders have been instructed to ensure the timely completion of the repair campaign, reinforce control over project implementation at facilities, take necessary measures to eliminate risks, and carry out activities to prepare facilities for the heating season and obtain readiness certificates within the specified timelines.

The Committee of the Ministry of Energy will continue weekly monitoring of the preparation of electric and thermal power facilities for the upcoming heating season. The main task remains ensuring reliable and uninterrupted heat supply to consumers during the autumn-winter period.
