Kazakhstan Plans to Increase Gasification Level to 80%

Kazakhstan aims for 80% gasification with new infrastructure plans from the Ministry of Energy, enhancing regional gas supply reliability.

Kazakhstan Plans to Increase Gasification Level to 80%

To achieve an 80% level of population gasification in Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Energy has developed a plan for the comprehensive development of the main gas transmission infrastructure, regional networks, and resource base.

Key projects contributing to the expansion of gas supply in the regions include:

  • "Ishim – Astana": A strategically important project for the gasification of northern regions. It will ensure reliable gas supply to Astana, Kokshetau, and Petropavlovsk.
  • Second Thread "Beineu – Bozoi – Shymkent": This project will increase the throughput capacity of the gas transportation system and meet the growing demand for gas in the southern and central regions of the country.
  • Main Gas Pipeline KS-14 – Kostanay: The project involves the construction of a pipeline from the compressor station KS-14 in Aktobe region to Kostanay and a new compressor workshop at KS-14. It will ensure reliable gas supply to Kostanay region and provide additional opportunities for gasification of northern regions.
  • "Taldykorgan – Usharal": A gas pipeline approximately 302 km long that has provided gas to settlements in the Zhetysu region and created the possibility for further expansion of gasification to 84 settlements. The project will be put into operation in 2025.
  • Regional Gasification Projects: The construction of feeder and distribution gas networks will continue in Almaty, Turkestan, Kyzylorda, Zhambyl, Kostanay, Karaganda, and other regions.

Thus, the development of main and regional infrastructure will enhance the reliability of gas supply, increase the throughput capacity of the gas transport system, and reduce the dependence of certain regions on a single source or gas route.

The comprehensive implementation of these projects is a crucial condition for achieving the target gasification level in Kazakhstan at 80%. Reports by Housing and Utilities 24 cite the Ministry of Energy's website.
