Kashagan Gas Processing Plant in Atyrau Reaches 60% Construction Completion

The progress of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) activities at the Kashagan Gas Processing Plant has reached 60%. In Atyrau, on July 21, it was reported that the facility, once operational, will be capable of processing 1 billion cubic meters of associated gas annually and producing around 727 million cubic meters of commercial gas each year.

During a working visit to the Atyrau region, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Akkenzhenov, assessed the project's progress.

The project is being implemented by GPC Investment LLP, a subsidiary of JSC NC QazaqGaz. The plant is set to become one of the key facilities in the country's gas processing sector, enhancing the processing volume of associated gas extracted from the Kashagan field.

About 97% of the main equipment has already been delivered to the construction site. The construction of the worker's camp and railway infrastructure for transporting oversized cargo has been completed. Approximately two thousand specialists are involved in the project. Installation of technological equipment, laying of utilities, and construction of primary production facilities are ongoing.

During the site visit, the minister was presented with updates on the progress of construction and installation works, equipment deliveries, and the next steps of the project. According to the client, the construction is progressing rapidly in line with the approved schedule.

"The Kashagan Gas Processing Plant is of strategic importance for the further development of Kazakhstan's gas industry. The commissioning of the plant will increase the processing of associated gas, enhance the efficiency of developing one of the country's largest oil and gas fields, and supply the domestic market with additional volumes of commercial gas. Our current task is to ensure the timely commissioning of the facility," stated Yerlan Akkenzhenov, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, following his visit.
"The project’s implementation remains under constant oversight by QazaqGaz. Understanding the project's significance for the national economy, we are taking all necessary steps to ensure the quality and timely completion of the Kashagan Gas Processing Plant construction," noted Alibek Zhamauov, the Chairman of the Board of JSC NC QazaqGaz.
