Youth in Astana Cover Up Illegal Graffiti on Building Walls

In the Baykonyr district of Astana, an event called "No to Vandalism" took place as part of the "Law and Order" initiative. Young individuals and volunteers who participated in the event painted over illegal graffiti on building walls along Abaya Street, reports the official website of the capital's akimat.

The event was organized in collaboration with the Baykonyr district's Department of Internal Policy, the district police department, and the youth wing of the Adilet Party — "Zhasstar Rukhy."

"Such inscriptions not only spoil the city's appearance but sometimes contain illegal drug advertisements. For the safety of our peers, we participate in such actions, hoping that our city remains clean and safe. To those who leave drawings on buildings without permission, I want to say: think for a moment. This is someone else's property. If you want to engage in creativity, do it in specially designated places," noted Diana Zholmukhambetova, a consultant for the youth wing of the Adilet Party — "Zhasstar Rukhy."

Arman Bayanbekov, head of the Department of Internal Policy of the Baykonyr district akimat, also emphasized that regular efforts to prevent vandalism are ongoing in the district.

"This year, in collaboration with the police and volunteer organizations, we conducted eight raids to identify and eliminate graffiti with drug advertisements. As a result, 12 such inscriptions were found and painted over. Work in this area will continue in the future," stated Arman Bayanbekov.

The district's akimat intends to continue the prevention of vandalism and the removal of illegal inscriptions in cooperation with the police and volunteers.
