Almaty Residents to Receive Assistance Connecting Private Homes to Gas

The Bulat Utemuratov Foundation has allocated 460 million tenge in charitable funds to implement a social project aimed at connecting private homes to the gas supply in Almaty.

The project to switch the private sector to gas will be carried out in partnership with the Almaty mayor's office. The first step involved officially signing a memorandum of cooperation outlining key areas of interaction between the parties. The mayor's office conducts inspections of properties and advises residents, after which qualified contractors carry out necessary construction and installation work. Residents receive comprehensive support in transitioning to gas heating, including financial assistance, help with paperwork, and other forms of support.

"In Almaty, targeted efforts continue to connect private homes to gas. Each case can have different causes, so it's important not just to carry out technical work but to provide comprehensive support for residents—from consultations to the actual connection. Support from socially responsible businesses allows us to expand our capabilities and expedite addressing specific issues," stated Almaty Mayor Darkhan Satibaldy.

Switching private homes to natural gas is crucial for improving air quality in Almaty. During the heating season, the use of solid fuel in the private sector remains a source of air pollution.

"It's important for us to support projects aimed at developing urban infrastructure and creating better living conditions for Almaty's residents. Gasification of the private sector will allow families not yet connected to the gas supply to switch to a modern heating method. We are glad to contribute to the implementation of this urban initiative," noted Aisulu Karbozova, CEO of the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation.

This is not the first project by the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation in Almaty. The organization has supported the reconstruction of the Botanical Garden, the modernization of the National Central Museum of Kazakhstan's ventilation and air conditioning system. One of the first autism centers, "Asyl Miras," was also opened by the Foundation in Almaty as part of the "Autism. The World is One for All" program. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation supported healthcare, including installing mobile laboratories for conducting PCR tests.

Over the past 12 years, the Foundation has implemented social projects across various regions of the country, including the construction of schools in Esik and Kosshy, a new airport terminal in Kyzylorda, a community center in Kosshy, and the "Shabyt" youth center in Zhezkazgan, among other initiatives in the fields of education, healthcare, inclusion, culture, environment, and disaster relief. Since 2014, the Foundation's total investment in social projects exceeds $250 million.
