Over 4 Million Flowers Planted and New Art Installations Unveiled in Almaty

In Almaty, decorative plants have been arranged across areas totaling more than 410,000 square meters, surpassing last year’s figures by 77%. The number of annual flowers has risen from 2.7 million to 4.3 million, and the count of roses has increased from 125,000 to 580,000, according to Eco Almaty.

The largest flower zones have been established along the banks of the Yesentai River, covering 20,000 square meters, around the Sairan Reservoir, spanning 15,000 square meters, and near Halyk Arena with over 7,000 square meters.

When designing the city's green spaces, the climate of Almaty, plant blooming periods, and their heat resistance are taken into account. Petunias, marigolds, begonias, salvias, and many other ornamental plants have been planted along streets, in parks, and in squares.

Significant large-scale floral compositions include the figures of the "Snow Leopard" and an "Apple." An impressive peacock topiary standing 2.5 meters tall and 30 meters long, adorned with various flowers, has been installed along the Esentai River bank in the "Gorny Gigant" area.

A comprehensive greening project has been conducted along the riverbank, covering an area of 20,000 square meters, featuring hydrangeas, roses, and other plants. Additionally, there are now 241 small-leaved linden trees, 198 Freeman maples, and 50 ginkgo biloba trees. Eco-friendly pathways extending 3,650 square meters have been created.

Other locations such as the "Shugyla" neighborhood and Sabdenova Street also feature floral art installations. Maintenance of these green areas is performed daily, involving more than 140 pieces of specialized equipment and over 400 workers.
