Strengthened Oversight for Investment Projects in Almaty

Almaty is set to enhance its oversight of investment projects at all stages of their implementation. This directive was issued by the city's mayor, Darkhan Satubaldy, during a meeting aimed at removing administrative barriers for investors.

During the meeting, projects previously approved by the Regional Investment Headquarters were reviewed. The discussion primarily focused on challenges associated with obtaining government services and approvals.

According to Kairat Bekenov, Chairman of Almaty Invest, the analysis highlighted that the most common delays occur in resolving issues related to land relations, architectural and urban planning procedures, and obtaining technical conditions for connection to engineering networks.

The mayor of Almaty mandated the clear allocation of responsibilities among government bodies, setting specific deadlines for implementation, and establishing continuous monitoring of the execution of decisions made.

The working functionality of the digital platform for investment project support was also assessed. Further implementation plans include expanding the platform's use to support social and strategic projects funded by the city's budget.

The mayor stressed that the timely implementation of investment projects is crucial for Almaty's economic growth—creating new production facilities and infrastructure, developing the tourism and hospitality sectors, the service industry, and expanding the city's tax base.
