New Schools and Kindergartens Being Built in Almaty

In Almaty, five new schools with a capacity of 1,930 student places and three kindergartens for 800 places are under construction. Additionally, the city is developing a college in the Alğabas neighborhood, two Centers for Creative Development, and renovating existing educational institutions.

At a briefing by the Regional Communication Service, the head of the Almaty Construction Department, Nurbol Nursagatov, provided updates on the progress of these projects.

He mentioned that extensions are currently being built for schools No. 16, No. 112, and No. 170. These extensions will increase the number of student places by 900. Simultaneously, work is underway on the reconstruction and seismic strengthening of ten schools and two kindergartens.

• Since the beginning of the year, seven educational facilities have been commissioned in Almaty. Among them is a school for 550 places in the Zerdeli neighborhood, a boarding school for 340 places in the Şuğyla neighborhood, three kindergartens with a total capacity of 820 places in the Quramıs, Jas Qanat, and Qalqaman neighborhoods, as well as a reconstructed and seismically reinforced nursery-kindergarten No. 10 and a Center for Creative Development in the Sayalı neighborhood. By the end of the year, it is planned to complete 15 more facilities: two schools in the Zerdeli neighborhood and on Yñbek Street with 890 places, three extensions to schools No. 16, No. 112, and No. 170 with 900 places, the reconstruction and seismic strengthening of nine schools, and the construction of a kindergarten on Tlendiyev Street, - the head of the department noted.

Currently, project and estimate documentation is being developed for 14 facilities, with completion planned by the end of the year. The state examination has already approved projects for an extension to school No. 87 with 300 places and the reconstruction of school No. 112. Construction work on these sites will begin in October.

Moreover, 16 more educational projects are being implemented in Almaty. Among them are the construction of two Centers for Creative Development and kindergartens, the reconstruction of the Physics and Mathematics School, and other facilities. Project documentation is also being prepared for 20 objects—18 preschools and two secondary education facilities. Construction is planned to begin in 2027 after obtaining state approval.

Separately, Nurbol Nursagatov spoke about the school renovation program. By the end of 2027, it is planned to modernize 31 educational establishments in Almaty. Construction work is currently underway on six sites, competitive procedures are being conducted for two sites, and project and estimate documentation are being prepared for 14 sites.
