Upgraded Agricultural Market Opens in Almaty’s Kazakhfilm District
A renovated agricultural market opens in Almaty's Kazakhfilm district, featuring 112 trading places for local producers and fresh produce.

The upgraded weekend agricultural market in the Kazakhfilm microdistrict, located in Almaty's Bostandyk district, has been opened as part of the City Day celebrations. Covering an area of 49 sotkas, the renovated space now offers 112 trading places for customers, farmers, and local producers.
"We are the project operator for the modernization of this municipal market. As you know, there was a tent market here previously, which operated for many years. Over time, it became outdated and no longer met current standards. We began its renovation at the start of this year, and today, most of the work has been completed," said Anuar Gabdullin, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "Social-Entrepreneurial Corporation "Almaty".
On the open grounds, there are 100 trading spots, with seven located in the enclosed pavilion and five in the food court area. The enclosed section will operate permanently, while the open area will host traditional weekend markets featuring agricultural producers.
According to Anuar Gabdullin, the venue showcases over a hundred producers, including farming communities. Visitors can purchase meat, vegetables, fruits, eggs, dairy products, and other locally produced goods.
Local residents appreciate the relevance of the market. Svetlana, a resident, shared that she regularly buys products here, valuing the freshness of the local produce.
– "The fruits, berries, and blackcurrants here are fresh. I like it. Especially the pumpkins, eggs, and meat. The quality is good. Vegetables and fruits brought from Issyk and Malovodnoe are grown in our region. I believe this is a great natural product," said Svetlana.

For entrepreneurs, the market remains an important platform for product sales. Businesswoman Sofiya Karaeva mentioned that she has been participating in the market for about ten years and considers it highly beneficial.
– "This market is very profitable for us. We have been working here every week for nearly ten years. Thanks to such markets, we can fully sell our products," explained Sofiya Karaeva.
Leila Madodayeva, presenting her products at the market, added that for them, it is an opportunity to sell produce grown on their own farm.
– "Everything is ours. My brothers manage the farm in Malovodnoe, Issyk, and Zhanaturmys. We bring our own produce here," shared Leila.
It is noteworthy that the market’s modernization was carried out with private investment. JSC "SEC "Almaty" will monitor pricing to ensure compliance. Anuar Gabdullin emphasized that pricing is controlled through regular monitoring.
The upgraded market will operate in winter as well. There are plans to install additional solutions to ensure comfortable visits during cold weather. Attention has also been given to beautifying the area, including landscaping and installing a modern lighting system.
Modernization of municipal markets will continue in other districts of Almaty. Anuar Gabdullin announced projects for constructing municipal markets in five districts and upgrading existing facilities.
