Autumn Rodent Control to Cover Over 47,000 Hectares in Almaty
Almaty will conduct a rodent control operation from September 15 to October 25, 2026, covering over 47,000 hectares to enhance public health.

From September 15 to October 25, 2026, Almaty will undergo a comprehensive autumn rodent control operation. The efforts will target open rodent habitats on public land, covering a total area of over 47,000 hectares, as reported by the city's Department of Public Utilities and Housing Inspection.
Experts will treat green areas, open biotopes, rodent burrows, irrigation networks, riverbanks and bodies of water, as well as public transportation stops. Residents in private sectors will receive free bait along with instructions and guidance on its use.
According to Article 107 of the Republic of Kazakhstan's Code "On the Health of the People and the Healthcare System," individuals and legal entities must undertake disinfection, disinsection, and rodent control at their own expense.
The responsibility for treating private lands, properties, buildings, and structures lies with their owners. Rodent control for communal properties of apartment buildings, including basements, attics, staircases, and surrounding areas, is funded by House Owner Co-operatives (KSK) or Owner's Cooperative of Property (OSIs), as well as by property owners and tenants.
To enhance the effectiveness of the treatment, legal entities, KSKs, OSIs, and other responsible organizations are encouraged to synchronize rodent control of their buildings, properties, and container sites with the ongoing city-wide campaign.
