Comprehensive Revitalization of Eight Streets and First President's Park Continues in Almaty
Almaty continues enhancing eight streets and First President's Park, spanning 34 km with new sidewalks, playgrounds, and bike lanes.
In Almaty, ongoing efforts are being made to comprehensively enhance eight city streets and the First President's Park. These projects are being executed on Satpaev, Rozybakiyev, Zharokov, Timiryazev, Zhandosov, Masanchi streets, as well as on Seifullin and Abay avenues, spanning a total of approximately 34 km.
The revitalization initiative includes upgrading areas from facade to facade: constructing sidewalks and pedestrian zones, landscaping, building automatic irrigation systems, modernizing outdoor lighting and utility networks, installing small architectural structures, and creating children's and sports playgrounds.
Work is in progress on pedestrian infrastructure, utility networks, outdoor lighting, and landscaping at the sites. The projects expect to plant 4,357 trees and around 795,000 shrubs. An automatic irrigation system, with a total length of about 1,012 km, is being developed to care for the plantings.
Additionally, plans call for approximately 60 children's and sports playgrounds and the development of cycling infrastructure. Upon completion, the length of the bike lanes in these areas will increase by more than 10 km, from 7.21 to 17.77 km.
Special attention is given to public spaces. As part of the Satpaev street enhancement, Republic Square, covering 6.9 hectares, has been reconstructed. Here, 277 trees and over 32,600 shrubs have been planted, and 550 meters of bike lanes have been laid out.
On Timiryazev Street, the area in front of the Atakent complex, covering 0.37 hectares, has been updated. This includes the planting of 67 trees and over 17,200 shrubs, along with the addition of 100 meters of bike lanes.
Rozybakiyev Street features plans for creating linear parks between Karasai Batyr and Zhambyl streets, as well as on eight other segments.
A major standalone project remains the enhancement of the First President's Park. The plans include comprehensive landscaping, planting approximately 1 million green plants including trees, shrubs, and flowers, and creating an automatic irrigation system with three reservoirs.
