A New 4-Hectare Flower Slope Created on Kok-Tobe in Almaty

The creation of a new flower slope covering 4 hectares has been completed in the Kok-Tobe Park in Almaty. According to the Almaty Tourism Department, this extensive greening and landscaping initiative has resulted in a new public space featuring walking routes, observation decks, and panoramic views of Almaty.

The highlight of the project is the lavender terraces, which offer a vibrant purple accent on the mountain slope during their blooming period. Over 20 varieties of perennial plants, shrubs, and ornamental grasses have been planted in a way that ensures the area remains visually appealing from early spring till late autumn. The landscape arrangement is complemented by hydrangeas, spiraea, sage, catnip, echinacea, and ornamental grasses.

Particular attention was given to preserving the natural terrain during the project's implementation. The slopes were reinforced with gabion structures to protect against erosion, and pedestrian pathways, staircases, and viewing platforms were constructed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.

The new space is now open to visitors. The floral arrangements are prominently visible from various points in the park, and the walking route offers panoramic views of Almaty and the Zailiyskiy Alatau mountains. The new flower slope has become another picturesque location in the city, where modern landscape design harmoniously coexists with nature.
