Revitalization of Chaikovsky Street Section in Almaty under 'People's Budget' Program

In the Almaly District of Almaty, the section of Chaikovsky Street from Kazibek Bi Street to Aiteke Bi Street is undergoing revitalization as part of the 'People's Budget' program. This project, initiated by local residents, has been underway since spring, according to the Almaly District Akimat.

A comfortable pedestrian zone for leisure and strolls is being developed on a 0.6-hectare area. Of this, 0.4 hectares are allocated for greenery: lawns are being laid, perennial shrubs planted, and an automatic irrigation system, which was not previously available, is being installed.

The remaining 0.2 hectares will feature renewed pedestrian pathways. Plans include laying 985 square meters of paving stones and 250 square meters of asphalt, and installing a shade canopy, pergola, and 27 new lighting poles. For the light fixtures, 400 meters of cable lines have already been laid.

"We are very pleased with the result. Our courtyard has always been a favorite spot for residents, and now it’s even better. We have automatic irrigation, convenient benches, and refreshed sports and children's playgrounds. The improvement gives it the feel of an actual park. Thank you for this work," shared Zhanat Izhanova, a resident of building No. 85.

The project aims to address everyday issues highlighted by the residents themselves: updating sidewalks, lighting, and greenery, noted the district akimat.
