Winter Readiness in Zhetysu: Facilities and Networks Prepared for Heating Season

In the Zhetysu region, comprehensive preparations for heating, water, and electricity supply facilities are nearing completion ahead of the upcoming heating season. Priority is given to ensuring the reliability of communal infrastructure, readiness of social facilities, and fuel stockpiling, reports the press service of the akim of Zhetysu.

In preparation for winter, repairs have been carried out on 2 turbines, 15 boilers, 10 km of heating networks, 55.6 km of water pipelines, 558 km of electrical networks, and 52 transformer substations. As part of the National Project, 4.5 km of thermal networks have been upgraded on I. Zhansugurov and Birzhan Sal streets in Taldykorgan. Construction of a new boiler house with a capacity of 49 Gcal/h and heat networks is nearing completion in the South-Western district of Taldykorgan. This will provide utilities to the developing residential area.

Significant attention is being paid to stockpiling fuel. Heat supply companies are stocking up 300,000 tons of coal according to the approved schedule. The necessary volume has been 100% purchased, with 145,600 tons delivered and reserves standing at 96,400 tons. In October, a scheduled delivery of 6,400 tons of fuel oil was initiated, approved by the Ministry of Energy.

Fuel reserves for budget organizations have been formed—15,100 tons of coal and 10.2 million liters of liquid fuel are prepared.

Ensuring coal availability for the population is a vital part of the preparation. The region's residents require 375,000 tons of coal. According to city and district akimats, 60% of this need has been met for the population, with 27,800 tons stored in warehouses.

  • The preparation of communal infrastructure, social facilities, and the fuel base is proceeding according to the set schedule. The start of the heating season in the Zhetysu region is tentatively planned for before October 15, 2026, said Azamat Beisbayev, head of the regional department of energy and housing and communal services.

The region operates 23 boiler houses and one CHPP. The length of heating networks is 393 km, water pipelines 3,957 km, and sewage networks 632 km. Electricity supply is ensured by 13,800 km of electrical networks and 2,644 transformer substations.
