The Zhetysu Region – Among Leaders in Implementing the National Project for Modernization of Energy and Utility Sectors

The Zhetysu region occupies leading positions in the implementation of the national project "Modernization of the Energy and Utility Sector". In total, the overall volume of investments for the implementation of the national project in the Zhetysu region will amount to about 79 billion tenge. With this funding, over the course of two years, 1,156.2 kilometers of engineering networks will be repaired and modernized, and 83,600 accounting devices will be installed. A reduction in the average level of wear and tear of the engineering infrastructure by 19% is expected, according to the announcement.

This year, 23 projects are being implemented in the region, covering the sectors of electricity, heating, water supply, and sewage. For all facilities, contracting organizations have been identified, financing has been secured, and construction and installation work is ongoing. In total, by the end of this year, it is planned to modernize 568 km of engineering networks, which will reduce the average level of wear and tear by 15%.

In 2027, it is planned to implement another 34 projects in the region, which will involve the modernization of 588.2 km of engineering networks and the installation of 83,600 accounting devices.

By 2029, 62 projects will be implemented in the region, which will allow for the modernization of about 1,500 km of engineering networks. Specifically, the modernization of 1,155 km of power lines and 6 substations, 310.1 km of water supply and sewage networks, and 10.1 km of heating networks is planned. As a result, the wear level of electrical supply facilities will decrease from 78.5% to 49.9%, water supply from 33% to 24%, sewage from 55% to 47%, and heating from 61% to 38%.

The effective implementation of the national project in the Zhetysu region will ensure a phased update of the utility infrastructure, improve the reliability and quality of provided utility services, and create a foundation for the further sustainable development of the engineering infrastructure of the region.
