Youth Conducts Environmental Cleanup at Lake Alakol in Zhetisu

As part of the national environmental program 'Clean Kazakhstan,' a cleanup event was held at the shores of Lake Alakol. The event, titled 'Clean Post – Alakol,' was organized in the village of Akshi, drawing about 100 participants. During the cleanup, 1.2 tons of waste were collected, according to the press service of the akim of Zhetisu Region.

A special station was set up during the event where vacationers were provided with eco-friendly boxes containing gloves and bags for waste collection. Small gifts were also given to children. Vacationers joined in collecting and cleaning up litter scattered along the Lake Alakol shores and the adjacent areas.

"I personally pay great attention to cleanliness. Today is our second day here. The beach is equipped with trash bins, changing rooms, and modern sanitary facilities; all necessary conditions are set. Despite this, some vacationers leave trash haphazardly on the shore. I always teach my grandchildren to throw their garbage in designated bins. Today, we also took part in the environmental event and made our small contribution to maintaining cleanliness. I urge vacationers not to pollute the environment and to keep it clean," said pensioner Zairash Zhabelova.

According to representatives of KGU 'Jetisu Jastary,' who organized the event, the main goal is to preserve the natural cleanliness of Lake Alakol, foster a culture of environmental responsibility, and engage vacationers in concrete actions to protect nature.

"During the event, participants were educated about the importance of not polluting the environment, the necessity to dispose of waste in designated bins, and maintaining recreational areas in their original clean state. The eco-action is not limited to a one-day cleanup but aims for environmental responsibility to gradually become a daily habit," noted Akerke Kyzaibay, an ombudsman of the Student Alliance of Kazakhstan for Zhetisu Region.
