Astana to Complete Major Road Projects by 2023

The Mayor of Astana, Zhenis Kassymbek, announced on Instagram significant road projects set to be completed this year, as reported on the official website of Astana city administration.

The works cover nearly 50 road projects, with plans to open an additional 15 km of road network by the end of the year. This initiative aims to improve transport accessibility and ease congestion on the city's most crowded sections.

The construction of Tauelsizdik Street from Kabanbay Batyr Avenue to Hussein bin Talal Street includes the development of essential infrastructure: stormwater and domestic sewer systems, cable channel, heat networks, and communication systems, as well as a sewage pumping station. Roadwork construction is actively ongoing.

"The implementation of this project will alleviate traffic on Mangilik El and Turan Avenues and provide the necessary engineering infrastructure to the developing area of the left bank near Hussein Bin Talal Street," the mayor noted.

The opening of one side of the entire section is planned by the end of November.

The construction of Zhangeldin Street will facilitate movement between K. Kumisbekov and Sh. Beysekova Streets and provide easy access to School-Gymnasium No. 65, the technical college, and the 'Bіlіm-Innovation' boarding lyceum. Works on installing infrastructure and road construction are underway, with the thoroughfare opening of the entire section scheduled for November 10.

At the two-level interchange under construction at the intersection of N. Tlendiyev Avenue and Sh. Beysekova Street, active construction work continues. The metal structure of the bridge has already been installed. Two layers of asphalt have been laid on the side near the Astykzhan Trading House. Major engineering communication works are 90% complete.

This project's realization will ease traffic on Akan Sery, Sh. Kosshygululy, and K. Kumisbekov Streets. The new interchange will ensure a convenient transport link between the left bank and the Urker residential area.

Additionally, the construction project for the 150 Years of Abai Street on the section from Tlendiyev Avenue to Beibarys Sultan Street is underway.

In the Prigorodny residential area, construction is ongoing on Mestnaya 7 and E522 Streets. Stormwater drainage construction on E522 Street is complete, with continuing work on the water supply and roadway. The opening of E522 Street is planned by the end of October.

Contractor organizations have been instructed to strictly adhere to the deadlines and ensure high quality of the work, added Zhenis Kassymbek.
