Astana Undertakes Sarybulak River Cleanup as Part of 'Clean Kazakhstan' Initiative

In Astana, comprehensive efforts are underway as part of the national ecological campaign 'Clean Kazakhstan' to enhance the environmental condition of the Sarybulak River, according to the official website of the city's akimat.

During the initiative, experts showcased the process of introducing biological treatments into the water body. These treatments, containing beneficial microorganisms, are designed to reduce organic water pollution, improve water quality, and restore the natural ecological balance of the water body.

Additionally, participants received information on modern technologies being applied to restore the Sarybulak River and the work accomplished so far.

Currently, a series of measures are being implemented at the water body to improve the ecological condition. These include sanitary cleaning of the shoreline and water area, garbage collection, cutting of aquatic vegetation, removal of water flow obstacles, sediment removal, water aeration, and the use of bioproducts based on beneficial microorganisms.

"Biological methods are crucial for the restoration of natural water bodies. The beneficial microorganisms in the treatments help break down organic pollutants, improving water quality. Biological cleaning is one of the effective and environmentally friendly methods aimed at maintaining the natural balance of the aquatic ecosystem. The work on the Sarybulak River is conducted comprehensively, combining mechanical cleaning, aeration, and biological methods," noted Azamat Sadykov, Deputy Director for Science at LLP 'Astana Bioscience Business Centre.'
