Youth in Astana Conduct Eco-Clean-Up in Teachers' Square as Part of 'Clean Kazakhstan' Initiative

An environmental event was held in the Teachers' Square in the capital city of Astana as part of the nationwide ecological campaign 'Clean Kazakhstan', according to the official website of the Astana Akimat.

Participants of the campaign, members of the labor teams 'Zhasyl El', cleaned the square from litter and weeded out unwanted plants.

The organizers stated that the main goal of the initiative is to foster environmental awareness among residents, develop skills for caring for the environment, and draw public attention to the issue of urban cleanliness.

According to Nurlislam Batyrbek, chief specialist of the Internal Policy Department of the Baikonyr region Akimat in Astana, the event was supported by the district administration.

"About 70 activists from the labor team 'Zhasyl El' are participating in the clean-up. This initiative is conducted to fulfill the directives of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on environmental protection and fostering environmental culture. Teachers' Square is one of the favorite leisure spots for district residents. The cleanliness of such areas is directly linked to the comfort and health of the city’s inhabitants. Our task is to accompany park beautification with instilling diligence, care for nature, and ecological responsibility in the youth," he noted.

Diana Yermaganbet, a tenth-grader at the BINOM School named after Ahmet Baitursynuly and an activist from 'Zhasyl El', emphasized that protecting nature is the duty of every citizen.

"I have been part of 'Zhasyl El' since last year. I enjoy contributing to nature and my hometown. It's a great place to make new friends and work in good company. Preserving nature starts with not littering. Nature is like us. Polluting the streets harms her. I urge everyone to appreciate the work of those who clean the city daily and to not leave trash or spoil the environment when outside," she stated.
