Over 600 Young People in Almaty Kick Off ALMA LOVE Festival with Care for the City

On August 2, the ALMA LOVE 2026 festival began in Almaty with the EcoDay environmental action as part of the nationwide 'Taza Kazakhstan' initiative. More than 600 young residents of Almaty participated in activities held across various parts of the city.

The first day of the festival brought together youth organizations, volunteers, activists, and concerned citizens who cleaned yard areas and public spaces, organized eco-challenges, interacted with residents, and advocated for careful treatment of the environment and maintaining cleanliness.

The environmental action marks the start of the festival under the slogan, 'The City Begins with You'. The main concept emphasizes that love for Almaty is shown through simple daily actions: respecting the surroundings and caring for where we live.

The event aims to support the Kazakh President's 'Taza Kazakhstan' initiative, promote environmental culture, develop the volunteer movement, and foster a sense of personal responsibility among young people for the state of the environment.

Participants say that such initiatives help young people not only make the city cleaner but also come together around shared values.

"We started the festival not with concerts, but with useful work. It’s a good symbol that love for your city is shown not in words, but in deeds. If everyone takes care of at least their yard or street, Almaty will become much cleaner, more beautiful, and comfortable for everyone. True civic responsibility starts with such simple actions," noted eco-activist and blogger Dulat Nabiev.

During EcoDay, more than 600 people took part. The action was the first event of the large-scale ALMA LOVE 2026 youth festival, which will unite dozens of educational, cultural, sports, artistic, and public events throughout the city until August 12.

The festival is held with the support of the Almaty Youth Policy Department.
