The Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yersayin Nagaspaev spoke at a government meeting on the topic "On the results of socio-economic development for January-March 2026," reporting successful results in the country's manufacturing and construction sectors.

As reported by the minister, Kazakhstan's manufacturing industry showed growth of 8.5% in the first quarter of 2026.

"As of the first quarter, there is positive dynamics in the main sectors of the manufacturing industry with a combined indicator of 8.5%. Production in machine engineering increased by 21.9%, in the chemical industry – by 2.4%, in the light industry – by 51.1%. The output of construction materials increased by 37.1%, rubber and plastic products – by 26.9%," — the statement said.

Yersayin Nagaspaev indicated that under the directives of the Head of State for the development of the manufacturing industry, production, and export of higher value-added products, the Ministry of Industry and Construction will continue to work to ensure stable growth rates through the launch of new productions, increasing the level of localization, and actively stimulating investment activities in the regions of the country.

According to the results of 2025, the share of manufacturing in Kazakhstan's GDP structure reached 12.7%. At the same time, the minister also emphasized the steady growth of construction in the country, adding that the volume of construction work for the first three months of the current year compared to the same period last year increased by 14.8% and amounted to about 1.2 trillion tenge.

According to the minister, in the first quarter of 2026, 3.9 million sq. meters of housing were put into operation in the country, which is 3.8% higher than last year's level. Growth was recorded in 18 regions of the republic. The largest increase was noted in the Abai region (by 41.3%), Karaganda region (by 26%), and Shymkent (by 14.7%).

We remind you that in line with the directives of the Head of State, it is planned to build 111 million sq. meters of housing in the country over 7 years. This is reported by ZHKH24 citing the website of the Committee for Construction and Housing and Communal Services of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
